Senior Brown Bags
About The Brown Bag Program
Since 1976, the program has been delivering bags of nutritious supplemental groceries to at risk senior citizens throughout San Joaquin County. Many senior citizens are on a very limited income, often forcing them to choose between healthier food options and paying their bills. The loss of more nutritionally balanced foods leads to health issues and a sharp increase in medical costs among the seniors we serve.
To promote healthier choices, our bags are filled with 16-18 pounds of supplemental groceries, including 7-9 pounds of fresh produce. We are currently serving over 2500 seniors at 26 sites in San Joaquin County.
